At the encouragement of my wife and several friends, I am beginning to record my insights and applications from my study of the Holy Bible. I realise this is somewhat risky, since others may disagree with my interpretations. But I encourage readers to test what I write and to comment both on aspects you may find helpful as well as those you may disagree with.
Allow me to clarify some things up front… I believe that the Bible is God’s Word to us, written by human authors under the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit. I believe that it is infallible, inerrant and authoritative. And I believe it is as relevant to us today as it was for the people to whom it was originally written.
You will notice two things as you read the posts that follow: I will generally only write weekly, and I will often link multiple posts in a series. The reasons for this are related to how I usually study God’s Word…
I find that studying a new portion of Scripture every day leads to spiritual overload. I just can’t learn, interpret and apply a new passage every day, so I tend to spend about a week on one passage in order to get more lasting benefit. I also tend to study the Bible in sections or along themes in order to reinforce my understanding and application.
I hope you will join me on this journey of exploration and discovery.
